Design is a form of intellectual property protection that concerns itself with the aesthetics of a product. It is solely for the protection of how the product looks like and not how it functions.<\/span><\/p>\n

These include products such as lamps, phone cases, jewelleries, bottles, automobiles, and any other products that has a physical form, or a user interface for a software or application.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

What is Hague System?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

Hague System is an international filing system for designs which allows for a single application, filed in one language, with one set of fees, to be registered in multiple countries. <\/span><\/p>\n

There are 79 member states participating in Hague system which covers 96 countries. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Are you eligible to file under Hague System?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

To be eligible, you need to be one of the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • a national of a Contracting Party<\/span><\/li>\n
  • domiciled in a Contracting Party<\/span><\/li>\n
  • has a real and effective industrial or commercial establishment in a Contracting Party<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

    What are the requirements?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
      \n
    1. Filing Language<\/strong>: The applicant may choose between English, French, or Spanish.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Drawings<\/strong>: One or more views of the design<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Payment of fees<\/strong>: There are three types of fees to be paid: a basic fee; a publication fee; and a standard designation fee for each contracting states where you want your design to be registered. The fees are to be paid in Swiss francs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Some countries will require additional requirements depending on the national laws implemented. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

      Official fee<\/strong>: SGD 650 which includes the basic and publication fees<\/span><\/p>\n
